প্রধান উপদেষ্টা ড. মুহাম্মদ ইউনূসকে উদেশ্য করে মির্জা ফখরুল ইসলাম বলেন, আপনাকে বিএনপি শ্রদ্ধা করে। দেশবাসী আপনাকে ভালোবাসে। আপনি আমাদের গর্ব। কিন্তু সেই সম্মানটুকু রক্ষার দায়িত্ব আপনারই।
তিনি আরও বলেন, আপনি যদি জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচনের আগে স্থানীয় সরকার নির্বাচন দিয়ে পতিত স্বৈরাচারের দোসরদের রাজনৈতিকভাবে প্রতিষ্ঠিত করতে চান তাহলে দেশবাসী তা কোনোভাবেই মেনে নেবে না।
ফখরুল ইসলাম আলমগীর বলেন, আপনারাও ক্ষমতার চেয়ার ছেড়ে নির্বাচনে অংশগ্রহণ করুন। জনগণের রায় যদি আপনাদের পক্ষে যায়, তাহলে আপনারাই দেশ পরিচালনা করবেন। তবুও আমরা বলবো জনগণের ভোটের অধিকার নিশ্চিত করুন।
তিনি আরও বলেন, সংস্কার একটি চলমান প্রক্রিয়া। বিএনপি চেয়ারপারসন খালেদা জিয়া রাষ্ট্র সংস্কারে ভিশন-৩২ ঘোষণা করেছিলেন। আমাদের নেতা দলের ভারপ্রাপ্ত চেয়ারম্যান তারেক রহমান রাষ্ট্র সংস্কারের ৩১ দফার রূপরেখা ঘোষণা করেছেন। এসবই চলমান বিষয়। আর এসব সংস্কার তখনই কার্যকর হবে যখন দেশে একটি গণতান্ত্রিক সরকার প্রতিষ্ঠিত হবে।
যশোর জেলা বিএনপির আহ্বায়ক অধ্যাপক নার্গিস বেগমের সভাপতিত্বে সমাবেশে বক্তৃতা করেন বিএনপির কেন্দ্রীয় নেতা অমলেন্দু দাস অপু, মফিকুল হাসান তৃপ্তি, টিএস আইয়ুব, জেলা বিএনপি নেতা অ্যাডভোকেট সৈয়দ সাবেরুল হক সাবু, দেলোয়ার হোসেন খোকন, যশোর চেম্বারের সভাপতি মিজানুর রহমান খান প্রমুখ।
