খুলনা ব্যুরোঃ নগরীর সোনাডাঙ্গা বাস টার্মিনালে বৃহস্পতিবার (২৮ নভেম্বর) দিবাগত রাত দেড়টার দিকে সুন্দরবন পরিবহন ঢাকা মেট্রো ব-১১৬৪৬৯ নাম্বার গাড়িতে আগুন লাগে। এ সময় গাড়ির ভিতরে ঘুমিয়ে থাকা মোঃ শরীফ (২০) নামে এক হেল্পারের মৃত্যু হয়।
শরিফ শ্রীনগর এতিমখানায় বড় হয়েছে এবং পরে বাসের হেলপারি করতো বলে জানা গেছে।
প্রত্যক্ষদর্শীরা জানান, গাড়িতে থাকা ওই হেলপারকে বাঁচানোর জন্য অন্য স্টাফরাও এগিয়ে আসলেও উদ্ধার করা সক্ষম হননি ।
রাতে ফায়ার সার্ভিসে এসে আগুন নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনে প্রাথমিক জিজ্ঞাসা বাদে জানা গেছে হেল্পারের বাড়ি ঢাকা শ্রীনগর।
সোনাডাঙ্গা থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করে বলেন, হেল্পার গাড়ির দরজা-জানলা বন্ধ করে গাড়ির মধ্যে ঘুমাচ্ছিল। পাশে মশার কয়েল জ্বালানো ছিল প্রাথমিক ধারণা করা হচ্ছে সেখান থেকেই আগুনের সূত্রপাত হতে পারে।
